Based on various sources, firsthand knowledge, and reports received over time, we have compiled a list of accommodations along the Via Francigena, considering the starting points in Italy: the Great St. Bernard Pass and the Montgenèvre Pass. The two routes meet in Vercelli.
The list has been available online since April 2003 and has been updated 20 times over the years. Its usefulness for pilgrims is confirmed by its high download rate: in 2025 alone, it was downloaded 1,102 times.
During the last quarter of 2025, the list was completely revised. All facilities were contacted again to verify the information, both by email and telephone. The review resulted in the deletion of inactive accommodations, the correction of contact details and services offered, and the updating of rates.
The new list is back online as of December 20, 2025. The main change is the classification of properties by price range:
- LOW: Free facilities, with a donation or up to €15
- MEDIUM: Rates from €16 to €30
- HIGH: Rates above €30
