“Saludos, Greetings, Üdv!”: the great family of the Camino comes together in honour of St James

Once again, this year, the great family of the Camino has come together – albeit remotely – to mark the feast of St James the Apostle, thanks to the fourth edition of the community initiative ‘Saludos, Greetings, Üdv!’, organised by the Hungarian association Szent Jakab Baráti Kör. The invitation extended to pilgrims and communities along the Way was simple: to share a photograph of themselves or their community on the event’s Facebook page, as a gesture of greeting and solidarity. The response was extraordinary: images arrived from 14 countries, some taken this year and others in previous years, featuring hundreds of faces, smiles and moments of shared joy. The photographs conveyed an authentic and joyful image of the Camino’s international community, demonstrating how physical distance does not prevent us from feeling united in spirit. This bond was particularly meaningful on the day dedicated to St James, the patron saint and symbol of so many pilgrimage routes. The huge response made it impossible to include all the images in a single collage. For this reason, a short video has been produced featuring a selection of them, transforming the many greetings received into a single testament to friendship and shared experience. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone who took part by sending photographs, messages and smiles. It is precisely through these small gestures that the great Camino family continues to feel close, beyond borders and distances.  It’s wonderful to be part of the great Camino family!
